Morning Mist at the Lake

Here is another of the projects for the Watercolor Workshop group I belong to. This month we are painting fog and mist. The photo reference we were using had a big clump of trees in the exact middle. So I spent some time rearranging the elements before I was happy to paint it. It was a challenge to paint the atmosphere of the mist and not be tempted to paint the actual trees and lake.

  1. I stumbled across your blog while researching family history. Are you related to Anna Katherine Fulton Wilson?

    1. Hi, Anita,
How interesting! Anna Katherine Fulton Wilson was my mother-in-law. I'm married to her son, Robert Lee Wilson Jr. How are you connected to the Fultons?
Thanks for stopping by my blog site.

  2. Anna Katherine's mother, Katchen, was my grandmother's sister. I'm excited to find someone from Katchen's family. Thanks for answering. I'll email you.

    1. Oh, Anita, I am quite excited, too! We have had lots of contacts and reunions etc. with the Fultons, but absolutely no contacts with the Gibon family! I never had the privilege of personally knowing Katchen Gibon Fulton as she died while my husband, Bob was a child, in Knoxville, Tenn. But, "Meme" as she was known to her grandchildren must have been a marvelous person. I actually have the letters that Teodor Gibon received from his mother in Germany and that he forwarded to Katchen when she was in college. Also, I've done a little genealogy research on the Gibons.
This is SO exciting! Please contact me through my email address and we can correspond more.
